Houston, TX (June 10, 2025)
OVERVIEW:
On Monday, August 18, 2025, The Texas Radio Hall of Fame (TRHOF) will begin accepting applications for its annual scholarship program, with the expectation of awarding a minimum of ten (10) individual grants, ranging from $500 to $1,000, to Texas students pursuing a course of study related to broadcasting. The winners of these scholarships will be determined by a review board, working with the scholarship providers, who will announce the list of recipients on Monday, September 29, 2025. All scholarship recipients, their families, and sponsors will be honored at a reception on Friday evening, October 31, 2025, at the Texas Broadcast Museum in Kilgore, TX. Each honoree will receive one complimentary room night in Kilgore, TX and two complimentary tickets to the TRHOF Induction Ceremony on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
- At the time of their application, students must be enrolled in a Texas college, university, art/trade institute, or community college and participating in classes or training that would support a career in broadcasting. Acceptable degree programs include Communications, Broadcasting, Broadcast Journalism, Broadcast Production, and Radio-Television-Film, provided that the curriculum includes training connected to radio.
- Applications must be through the TRHOF website at www.TRHOF.net before Midnight Central Time on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, with confirmation of receipt from the TRHOF Executive Director. Application materials will not be returned.
- Applications must include:
- Student’s full name
- Date of birth
- Mailing address
- Email address
- Contact phone number
- Name of the educational institute attending
- Student’s declared major and minor (If applicable)
- Student’s most recent transcript and GPA
- Examples of completed courses, training
- A minimum of one (1) recommendation by a faculty member in a related department
- Any awards, achievements, certifications, or memberships that demonstrate the student’s skills, academic excellence, and/or interest in broadcasting.
- An original essay (minimum 500 words/maximum 1,000 words) composed by the student describing their interest and affection for broadcasting OR an audio or video message no more than 2 minutes in length.
“Work product” and photos may also be submitted but are NOT a requirement.

The Dale Radio KXRB Scholarship* | $1,000 |
The Rudy Trevino “Tejano Gold Countdown” Scholarship* | $1,000 |
The Lee Woods “Spirit of Texas Radio” Scholarship* | $1,000 |
*The Chris Alan, KWMC Radio, Kidd Kraddick, Henry “Pepsi” Pena, Dale Radio, Rudy Trevino, and Lee Woods named scholarships may be awarded to any student who meets the TRHOF’s Scholarship criteria as noted above.
**The Mike Edmonds named scholarship will be awarded to a student who meets the TRHOF’s Scholarship criteria as noted above and who is pursuing a career in sports journalism, reporting, or broadcasting.
***The Bill Moffett named scholarship may be awarded to any student who meets the TRHOF’s Scholarship criteria as noted above and who is pursuing studies related to broadcast, audio, and/or video production.
