2022 Scholarship Program

The Texas Radio Hall of Fame's (TRHOF) inaugural scholarship program, will be awarding eight (8) individual grants of $1,000 each to students pursuing a course of study related to broadcasting. We are no longer accepting applications as the deadline for entries was 11:59 PM Central on Thursday, April 28, 2022.


The winners of these scholarships will be determined by a review board, working with the scholarship providers, who will announce their recommendations on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. All scholarship recipients, their families and sponsors, will be honored at a luncheon on Thursday, May 19, 2022, in the Performance Hall of Houston’s Ensemble Theatre.

The Audacy-Texas Scholarship
Awarded to any student who meets the TRHOF Scholarship criteria as noted below.


The Cox Media Group Scholarship
Awarded to any student who meets the TRHOF Scholarship criteria as noted below.


The Dan D. Acree Texas Radio Hall of Fame Scholarship
Awarded to any student who meets the TRHOF Scholarship criteria as noted below.


The Harold Gunn Texas Radio Hall of Fame Scholarship
Awarded to any student who meets the TRHOF Scholarship criteria as noted below.


iHeartMedia’s The Beat and Black Information Network Scholarship
Awarded to a student attending an HBCU in Texas who meets the TRHOF Scholarship criteria as noted below.


The Mike Edmonds Sports Journalism Scholarship
Awarded to any student with an interest in Sports Communication/Journalism/Broadcasting/Audio Visual who meets the TRHOF criteria below.


Mostyn Law’s Power of Radio Scholarship
Awarded to a student attending an HBCU in Texas who meets the TRHOF Scholarship criteria as noted below.


The KTSU 90.9 FM The Choice Scholarship
Awarded to a Texas Southern University student who meets the TRHOF Scholarship criteria as noted below.

Eligibility


At the time of their application, these students must be enrolled in a Texas college, university, art/trade institute, or community college and participating in classes or training that would support a career in broadcasting, with the expectation that they would continue these studies for the Fall 2022 semester. Acceptable degree programs include Communications, Broadcasting, Broadcast Journalism, Broadcasting Production, Broadcast Marketing and Sales, and Radio-Television-Film, provided that the curriculum includes training connected to radio.

Applications must be submitted through the TRHOF website (TRHOF.net) before Midnight Central Time on Thursday, April 28, 2022, with confirmation of receipt from the TRHOF Executive Director. Application materials will not be returned.
