How Voting Works
Want to cast your vote for a deserving individual? Know someone whose sacrifices and contributions really made a difference in Texas radio? You must be a Voting Member of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame.
How voting works.
Our voting cycle will be in two steps.
STEP ONE
During this first round, also known as the Nominations Round, Voting Members in good standing may nominate up to TEN (10) people*. Please note, Voting Members must complete their full list of nominations in a single, online episode. Please collect (and have on hand) all of the biographical information and photos needed to facilitate your entries. Voting Members may NOT submit a few names during one visit, and then a few other names during this round. Secondary and subsequent submissions will not be considered. Incomplete ballots will be discarded.
*(NOTE: This does not mean that Voting Members must submit ten names, but for those names submitted, the nominating party must provide a serviceable amount of biographical data and at least one photo, preferably a high-resolution headshot. All of these elements may be easily uploaded through our online web portal but please note that this portal can NOT accommodate audio or video files).
The mission of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame is to recognize broadcast professionals whose body of work made, or continues to make, a significant impact on the people of Texas. Regardless of their market size or format, on-air personalities and programmers, as well as promotions and marketing specialists, sales and management professionals, broadcast engineers, and even station owners, are eligible for induction. And while certainly a factor to be considered, longevity in the broadcast profession, at a particular station or in a specific market, does not necessarily constitute a Hall of Fame worthy career. For additional information on qualifications and eligibility, please contact Executive Director Doug Harris by email at doug@getmedougharris.com or via phone/text at 713-569-7716.
Once the Voter Registrar confirms that all nominations have been submitted by Voting Members in good standing, and that each submission has been received in complete fashion (as noted above), those nominations will be assembled for internal review by a Nominations Committee. This committee is appointed each year by the Executive Director and is comprised of prior THROF inductees, working anonymously and independently, in pursuit of a consensus. Upon receipt of their findings and recommendations, the final list of up to 50 nominations (with their bios and photos), will be posted for review and voting by TRHOF members in good standing.
STEP TWO
Step Two is the final round of voting. Following the posting of the nominees’ names, career achievements, and photos in the voting portal, Voting Members in good standing may vote for up to TWENTY (20) broadcast professionals for potential induction. Please note that Voting Members in good standing may—and are encouraged to—review all of the nominees before placing their votes. Please be reminded that all votes should be submitted in a single, online episode.
